Let Sua Cook in DEATH BATTLE!

Sua, the Strongest Chef in the Dimension

Peace Restaurant was created by tyang and SeowooSeowoo, it can be read on Webtoon

Welcome back to the blog! It's been a WHILE since I've last covered a manhwa character, hasn't it? It's been over a year in fact! I've looked forward to covering this one for a while, so I hope you enjoy it! Take a wild guess how powerful this chef is, I don't think you're ready for the answer.

Background

"Everyone just wait here for a sec. I’m going to feed you to the fullest today."

One fateful day, the boundaries of the universe were obliterated. Pockets of space shattered into gateways to other dimensions, and their inhabitants became jumbled with Earth's—particularly in Seoul, South Korea. Demons, knights, robots, kitsune, and many others suddenly found themselves on this blue planet, and resources weren't enough to go around.

There was a period of war and mayhem, leading to the destruction of Seoul. Even after the war ended two years later, Seoul is still a dangerous place. It's in constant threat of warlords, kaiju, and dragons, not to mention the occasional squabbles between worlds. It isn't all doom and gloom though; one person who made grade strides to return Seoul to a peaceful place was a chef named Sua.

Sua is the owner/manager/sole chef of Peace Restaurant, an eatery that serves people from all dimensions. It's one of the few neutral grounds left in Seoul, quickly cementing it as one of the most important buildings in the capital. It attracts all kinds of folks, even legendary heroes. While her restaurant alone can’t bring global peace, she hopes that people across dimensions can come to understand each other when they dine together.

Sua is busy as a bee running the business all by herself, and she enjoys staying active. She goes on excavations in abandoned grocery stores to collect usable ingredients and tools, and often uses inter-dimensional ingredients as part of her dishes. It's a successful business, but rent always looms over her head.

She's a cheerful go-getter who's kind, polite, and considerate. All she wants is to spread harmony, and what better way to do that than unite everyone by feeding them! Sua is a peaceful and warmhearted lady, but she's no pushover. If someone enters her restaurant to cause trouble and threaten the safety of her patrons, she won’t show any mercy.

Sua isn't just well known for her delicious food, she's the one who singlehandedly ended the Great Dimensional War in the first place. When all armies in Seoul were united against the common threat of the dimensional dragon Nhēdhuk, Sua chopped off the giant beast's tail, cooked it, and served it to everyone just to advertise the official opening of Peace Restaurant.

Sua is unexplainably powerful, able to slice apart gigantic monsters with a kitchen knife without breaking a sweat. It's made her allies with all dimensional factions and their rulers, even the less morally upright ones like the demons. This also brought more unsavory attention to her restaurant—people more interested in the secret to her strength rather than her cuisine.

She often finds herself entangled in conflicts involving various nations and planet-threatening foes when all Sua wants is to run her restaurant and cook. She's a chaos magnet, so the dimensional lords want Sua to use her strength to become a protector instead of running her restaurant. Suffice to say, life has become hectic for her, especially after recruiting her first ever co-workers… who both happen to be living threats to peace in Seoul.

Belial, the violet power-hungry newborn demon king, and Nhēdhuk, the very dragon that threatened Seoul two years ago, agreed to serve her. After having his teeth kicked in by her, Belial begrudgingly chose to work under her to find out how she became so strong and overtake her. Despite what Sua did to Nhēdhuk, Peace Restaurant is still considered a neutral ground, so she wanted to work for Sua if it meant she could help regain her lost power.

Under her guidance, both Belial and Nhēdhuk genuinely turn themselves around, giving up their yearning for power in order to do the right thing.

Taming Nhēdhuk and the Devil King only furthered that belief that Sua's presence and power is a threat. Plus mention her mysterious past only adds further suspicion on her. No one knows anything about the chef prior to opening her restaurant or how she became so strong. That would start to unravel when Sua's most powerful foe enters her life once again.

For a while he's known as That Man, but in reality, he's Sua's evil brother Mua. Mua is just as powerful as Sua, while sporting busted magical abilities like time stops. He's the one responsible for the collapse of Earth's dimension, and plenty of other shit throughout the manhwa.

He desires to instigate war once again and eventually rule over everything with an iron fist. He believes the power he and Sua possess should be used to lead the world rather than intermingle with lesser beings, and wants his sister to join him. If she doesn't he'll take her power for himself.

So what makes Sua different from these 'lesser beings'? For starters she and her brother aren't biological humans. The siblings are made from the power of the Yggdrasil Tree—the living multiverse—by an unnamed organization. They were created as vessels that can store dimensional energy to use them to conquer the multiverse.

While the group were mostly destroyed by a resistance trying to preserve Yggdrasil, what they weren’t able to erase was their sentient weapons. Both vessels were jettisoned into entirely different dimensions in the process and became self-aware. Sua wound up on Earth, where she was sealed away for thousands of years.

She'd eventually be discovered and freed by the leader of the counter-organization, who was actually the original owner of Peace Restaurant. In the past Sua was much like her brother, a cold and authoritative being with a warped view of peace. However, the woman taught her to bring peace through understanding, respect, and food of course. For a while Sua was happy working alongside her best friend, up until her death when the dimension collapsed.

Sua has come a long way since her inception. She seeks to return her and Mua’s strength to Yggdrasil, considering it's because of this power that the world is in chaos and Sua's friend is dead. Before that, she and her allies have to stop Mua from doing any more damage to the dimension.

Sua's fight against Mua is a long and drawn out one when he absorbed Yggdrasil's power and became a god. He'd grown too powerful for her to keep up and ensure her friends' safety. That's when God himself shows up and offers Sua their power… which she'd only be able to absorb after crafting the perfect dish made of ingredients from all dimensions…… which has to be cooked for a whole week.

Sua doesn't have time for that, and God's basically echoing Mua's obsession with perfection. Nothing perfect exists no matter which dimension, so she fucking whacks God against Mua to force him to absorb them in her place. Mua’s body couldn’t contain that power, making him vulnerable enough to destroy once and for all.

With Yggdrasil alive and powers returned, she took it upon herself to reconstruct the dimensions, meaning everyone was return to their rightful worlds. Half a year later everyone’s doing fine, though everyone who developed abilities lost their powers—Sua included. That's totally okay by her, power is what led to Mua's dominion after all. Life is seemingly average again, at least until Sua receives a surprise visit by Belial and Nhēdhuk.

Even without her strength she’ll continue running restaurant and carrying on her best friend's will.

Experience and Skill

With her sudden appearance, the power dynamic in Seoul completely shifted. For someone seemingly so mundane her reputation skyrocketed, which quickly put Peace Restaurant on the map as a mecca within the city.

Sua has wiped the floor with the world-threatening dimensional dragon Nhēdhuk, decimated the week-old demon king Belial, and made both of them her wage-slaves. She easily beats foes with thousands upon thousands of years of experience like the dragon goddess Tiamat. In her fight with the Great Sage, she fought a thousand copies of him and quickly figured out the real Sage wasn’t there the whole time.

She fought the demon lord of greed Baal, who has the power to enforce rules in a given area anyone inside is forced to follow. He even ate the Forbidden Fruit that let him absorb the malice of all previous demon lords harnessed from invading worlds—even absorbing Sua’s strength and using all the souls of his followers… and he could barely put up a fight against Sua holding back.

She defeated her brother Mua, who’s comparable in strength while possessing a boatload of absurd powers like time stops, being able to regenerate from nothing, and teleporting.

She's much smarter than she lets on, though that should be expected with how business savvy she is. She became highly successful in the cutthroat unregulated Namdaemun Market where people can only enter if they have rare goods.

Equipment

Frying Pan

She can use this frying pan… as a dying pan! It has the utility of also being a blunt weapon for smacking demon lords around.

Kitchen Knife

This knife can slice through beings 100x her size.

Spatula

I'm surprised there aren't many characters that weaponize spatulas.

Butcher Knife

Functionally the same as her kitchen knife, but used for butchering.

Frying Basket

She once used this to redirect a powerful beam attack. I figure at the speed she was weaponizing it, the beam wouldn't have shot through the gaps.

Magic Swiss Picnic Knife

This knife is a gift from the dimensional lord Rio. Not only is it foldable, but it can summon the four lords to her aid.

Abilities

Wind Manipulation

She can hit her pan so hard that the force causes a typhoon. She’s so precise with her winds that used them to perfectly set a table and sat everyone caught in her typhoon down at each of them.

Dimensional Energy Manipulation

Sua's defining aspect in combat is her unfathomable strength. Sua is so strong because she’s a being made using Yggdrasil the World Tree's power, capable of weaponizing the very dimensional energy that makes up the world.

Spatial Manipulation

Via just… punching holes through dimensions…… sometimes REALLY big holes………

Dimensional Travel

Although she can’t enter dimensional cracks to enter different worlds, she can split dimensions (more on that in techniques) to create her own dimensional gate between worlds.

Longevity

While she hasn't been as active in the world as Mua, she shares her brother's longevity. She can still be killed and is called a mortal by God, so she isn't immortal.

Energy Manipulation/Absorption/Concealing

If Sua’s power is stolen from her, she’s able to hide backup reserves accumulated from all the work she’s done from running Peace Restaurant. She cashes in the rent she’s been gathering for two years to gain even more power. This…… can be explained.

Self-Sustenance (Type 1)

Space breather.

Resistances

  • Absorption resistance: Her body rejects being absorbed, even while unconscious.
  • Mind and memory manipulation resistance: When Mua attempted to absorb her, he took a deeper look into her mind to eliminate the moment she changed her ways. Even though he was viewing her memories, Sua SENSED him inside them and fought back, forcing him out of her head.

Techniques

Chop-Up

That's a lotta slashes……

Dragon Throat Cutter

Self-explanatory!

Shredder

Using her picnic knife, swipes so fast she makes slashes from wind pressure that block attacks. It even works against souls.

Dimension Splitter

Peace Restaurant Finisher: Fillet Finisher

After being hit deep into the ground, Sua performed a 360˚ slash with two knives. This attack sliced a perfect circle around the entire Namdaemun Market area, lifting the massive chunk of land off the ground. This effectively filleted Baal of his power source.

Shaver

She slashes so efficiently that she… shaves her opponent’s head mid-battle.

Spank

Sometimes words just isn’t cutting it with really stubborn foes, so she gives them a an old-fashioned spanking. Not even thousand year-old dragons are spared from it.

Dimension Destroyer

Sua breaks a hole through dimensions through her opponent’s body, BFRing it into another dimension and leaving their head behind. This contains way more energy than DImension Splitter—it’s powerful enough to destroy space itself.

Cosmology

The multiverse is contained within Yggdrasil the World Tree. Its very existence supports many dimensions, AKA universes, from collapsing. Yggdrasil is a living being who considers herself the nucleus of the system. If she were to die, all dimensions propped up by her would collapse. An innumerable amount of dimensions exist within Peace Restaurant's multiverse. It hasn't been confirmed whether it's an infinite or finite amount.

Who created the World Tree? God, of course. They created Yggdrasil after all dimensions collapsed together.

There are boundaries between every dimension, which are made up of dimensional energy. The space between them are dimensional gaps, often inhabited by eldritch beasts called dimensional creatures. Yggdrasil doesn't maintain gaps between dimensions, but she can banish people to one to be ravaged by the creatures residing there.

Dimensional gates also exist, which can let people pass through other dimensions. Some dimensional gates like the entrance to Jungrang-gu can destroy an entire universe if non-dragons attempt to enter it.

Feats

Overall

  • Cut off the tail of Nhēdhuk the dimensional dragon, which nearly brought Seoul to extinction and threatened three separate armies, all by herself. She made soup out of the tail.
  • Easily defended her restaurant from the up and coming demon lord Belial. She forced him to help repair the restaurant afterwards.
  • She stopped the knights and demons from interfering with Belial fixing her restaurant.
  • Defeated Upi, who helped build his city’s AI goddess Minerva and weaponized the city of Yongsan’s limitless supply of energy accumulated over 10 years. He absorbed her core, making him absurdly powerful.
  • Peace Restaurant became the most popular sellers in Namdaemun Market in a short time, nearly monopolizing all food sales.
  • Easily mopped the floor with noble dragonist Boreukani trying to take over Dongdaemun.
  • Sua figured out how to pass through the dimensional gate/barrier to the dragon dimension Jungrang-gu without blowing up her own dimension in the process by creating her own dimensional gate.
  • She beat Tiamat, the mother of all dragons and destroyer of dimensions, by spanking her.
  • Proved herself the Great Sage of Dowonhyang’s test to take the heavenly peach.
  • Bodied God.
  • Sua destroyed her brother Mua once and for all.

Strength

Speed

Durability

Scaling

Belial & Nhēdhuk

For how busted her loyal employees are, Sua is simply way stronger than them

Villains

That Man and the rest™

Weaknesses

  • Sua has her limits, namely being unable to cross through other dimensions without making her own dimensional gate. She employs Nhēdhuk to do transdimensional jobs for her.
  • Not a skilled swimmer
  • She’s inexperienced in training staff, so Belial and Nhēdhuk get into mischief from time to time
  • Isn’t immune to power absorption—at least her original power not stored in her hairpin. After Mua absorbed almost all her strength, her hair dimmed.

Matchup Potential

Sua falls into the ballpark of deceptively powerful characters like Saitama, though there's likely a more fitting option for her than him. A matchup that easily ties to her culinary passions or her backstory as an almighty being that could've gone down a darker path had her heart not been swayed would be ideal.

NEXT TIME ON WCAB… whenever I feel like it
