Dorago, The Legendary Fire User
Destined Flames was created by Ada Povedano, it can be read on Tapas
Welcome back to the blog! This blog in particular goes out to all my pals in the Webcomic Relief server. There aren't many places where I really get to express my passion for webcomics with likeminded people. This webcomic was made by a mod in the server, and I believe the protagonist is a pretty interesting character to powerscale. Dorago is far more than meets the eye, let me show you why!
Background
"Even if we're not alive in the technical way, I still think we're alive in the way that truly matters!"
In a distant land, an adventurer discovered a baby abandoned on a hill. The infant was unusual-looking humanoid reptilian. Regardless, she took the baby back with her to her shopkeep brother who agreed to raise him, naming him Dorago.
Dorago had a simple life growing up; he had a living father, good friends, oh, and mysterious fire powers he found difficult to control. Despite his potential to be a powerful warrior, Dorago was satisfied running the shop with his pop. Life was peaceful, until the violent masked warrior Blanshi waltzed into town. He arrives to the shop to buy from them, but instead decides challenging Dorago to a fight is far more worth his time. The lizard is unwilling, so he murders his dad in front of him to give him the proper motivation. Despite his lack of proper practice, Dorago managed to surprise him with his sheer power and raw determination, leading to the warrior completely nuking the town in retaliation.
Despite that, Dorago survived and was discovered by Blanshi's twin brother Grenshi. After a brief misunderstanding, the two realize both have their shared desire to put an end to Blanshi's barbarity. And after months of much needed training, they square off against Blanshi. While they are victorious, Grenshi sacrifices himself to take out his brother for good.
Just like that, Dorago is all alone again. Even though he had gotten his revenge, he lost everything else. With his remaining energy, he stumbled through the jungles before losing consciousness.
His body was discovered by members of a nearby tribe. Assuming he was dead, they brought him back to their village to boil his corpse as part of a ritual for the deceased. Dorago wakes up, immediately assumes the worst, and kicks into action. That's when the chief Shirade recognized his fire abilities, putting a stop the conflict.
Shirade identifies Dorago as one of the four elemental warriors prophesied to defeat a mysterious evil force known as the Great Darkness threatening the land. Dorago is unsure of taking the mantle of a hero until he sees how the Darkness has affected the world. People and objects are suspended in motion without hope of ever recovering, and others are trapped in a void under the world. It's then that he gains the motivation to follow his destiny.
He trains under Shirade and improves his fire powers, even gaining body tattoos of the tribe. However, there is more that the lizard has to learn, and Shirade sets Dorago on a journey to meet an incredibly powerful being of fire named Kodaryo (who weirdly isn't part of the prophecy) to train under him.
Regardless, Dorago sets off on a journey that takes him almost half a year to finish. He squares off against many warriors, makes friends and rivals alike such as the water wielder Triast, and frees himself from the clutches of the Darkness. He even runs into his father's sister and Grenshi, who miraculously survived and inspires Dorago to make new techniques.
Finally, Dorago would arrive at Kodaryo's domain to receive his knowledge. Instead, Kodaryo would let the fire user in on a disturbing truth that changes everything he thought he knew about himself and the very world he lives in.
Not only is the prophecy a lie, EVERYTHING is a lie!
Dorago and everyone else are self-aware characters that exist within a scrapped video game, and Dorago's unbalanced abilities are thanks to a glitch within the character generator's parameters. The Darkness? Simply glitches in the video game. Everyone he knows and loves? They're all just programs that simulate thoughts and feelings based on what their code demands.
With how much Dorago had to suffer to be where he is now, he can't accept the fact that he had been living a lie, and loses it. He beats Kodaryo senselessly out of rage before crawling out of the domain. As much as he doesn't want it to be true, he ultimately realizes Kodaryo was correct.
As the prophecy is moot, Dorago chooses to return to Shirade, unsure what to tell them. After three months of trekking back, Dorago is suddenly jumped by a mysterious person who fires a needle at him. Upon impact, this causes an entirely new being to spawn from the pyrokinetic's body. After coming to his senses, Dorago wakes up in Shirade's village, witnessing a purple doppelgänger wreaking havoc over it. Excluding Dorago, anyone who is hit by his flames is erased from existence. Shirade is unfortunately one of the victims.
After his evil double flees, Dorago knows he has a new destiny to fulfill. Despite that, he still has a horrifically dampened and apathetic worldview that slowly improves as the story progresses.
Meeting up with Triast, the two figure out the evil clone is collecting map fragments across each elemental village to reach an unknown destination. Despite their attempts, they fail to stop him from figuring out where he needs to go. This lookalike can do everything Dorago can, but better!
Having gathered the maps themselves, Dorago and Triast arrive at the hidden location. It's unassuming, until a hole opens up in the ground. Assuming the clone is already down there, Dorago doesn't want to risk Triast's life and chooses to go down there by himself.
The hole leads to the core of the game where everything is processed, and Dorago's clone is already down there. He reveals himself as Dariga, a computer virus developed by the core to delete any character from the game. That very virus was what was injected into Dorago after the core sent an agent after him. Since his very existence is so glitchy, it simply birthed Dariga's physical form instead.
With this new form, Dariga seeks to destroy this very world. However, Dorago won't let him do that. Even if nothing is real, his feelings and the relationships he made absolutely aren't, and he'll fight to keep those he loves safe.
And so the two duke it out. Dariga tests Dorago's limits far more than anything he's faced before, pushing him to discover new ways he can use his fire. The fight takes them beyond the game's main code as Dariga transforms into a giant flipping techno dragon.
In the end, Dorago bests the virus and saves his game, but at the cost of being unable to return to his world. In his game, he's celebrated as a hero for his sacrifice. The secret behind the game had become more common knowledge after Triast spread it, and most people took it surprisingly well. At the very least, everyone who Dorago cares about is living peaceful lives.
As for Dorago, he wakes up in an entirely different video game. Knowing there are more games out there, a new chapter opens in his life as he sets on another adventure…
Experience and Intelligence
Even before he received proper training, Dorago always enjoyed a good spar. He had a natural talent for it that only improved after learning from Grenshi and Shirade. By the time he was on his own, he was able to come up with his own techniques and master them. Even if saving the entire game world is absolutely his best feat, going on a 165 day-long journey, beating enemies at every corner is nothing to scoff at either.
Beyond the top secret knowledge Dorago holds about his world, Dorago is decently intelligent. He often finds holes in the logic behind some of the tasks he is given, such as seeking the pyrokinetic Kodaryo, who is supposedly as strong as him. Why he isn't capable of fighting the Darkness is beyond him.

There isn't a specific martial art he's trained in, but he is a gifted fighter. Combining his sick moves with his fire powers and you've got yourself a formidable opponent.

Pyrokinesis (or Piroquinesis in the webcomic)
Dorago's whole schtick is that he's a fire warrior. Not only can he use it as a powerful projectile, but he can imbue it in his hands and feet to maximize damage. He's also able to shape fire however he wants using his mind, which lets him create special weapons out of fire I'll elaborate on more later. The only other notable aspects to his fire is that it turns blue when he's especially riled up, and towards the end he figures out how to solidify fire.

Regeneration (Mid-High)
Fire and heat actually have a healing effect on Dorago. If he sustains any injuries, they're brought back in a gust of fire. His best showing of regeneration is when he fought Triast. Their fight was so intense, that both of their bodies had been reduced to smoke and they kept fighting. After their bodies had completely disintegrated, a flame lit up and Dorago's body completely regenerated.

Digital Physiology
As it turns out, Dorago and his world aren't real. Everyone in this game is data made up of ones and zeroes. Dorago in particular is a glitch who isn't recognized as a game character.

Resistances
- Fire and heat resistance: As he's able to control fire, he's also resistant to flames. In fact, they have a healing effect on him. The time when he felt actual pain when being burnt was when he faced his Dariga.
- Existence erasure immunity: Dorago is completely immune to Dariga's existence erasure thanks to his glitchiness. The game doesn't recognize him as a character, so he's totally exempt.

Feats
Overall
- Survived the destruction of his town
- Trained under Grenshi for months to help him defeat Blanshi
- Then trained under Shirade for days
- Traveled for 165 days to find Kodayro, beating countless warriors along the way
- Escaped being noclipped into the ground
- Reached the final round in a fighting tournament
- Defeated Kodayro in a one-sided fight, despite him being said to be on par of his power
- Fought the manifested virus born from him, Dariga, who threatened to destroy the game itself
Feats
Strength
- He can melt metal swords
- After noclipping through the ground, he broke out through sheer brute force alone
- Caused this large smoky explosion in the arena
- Defeated the titanic Dariga in his second phase. His fire even grew to a size comparable to him.
Speed
- Reacts to Grenshi's punches
- Dodges this needle that contained Dariga
- Repeatedly dodges lasers
- Weaves through several laser beams at once
Durability
- Resisted being boiled alive
- Survived getting stabbed in the stomach
- Survived a town-destroying blast from Blanshi (Town is used interchangably with city here, but I'll go with what was written first)
- As a glitch, he would be completely unharmed if the entire game world were to be erased. In Destined Flames, games are treated like entire dimensions
- Survived getting sent out of the game's main code
Weaknesses
- He uses his own energy to create fire, which can eventually exhaust him if not careful
Matchup Potential
With how off the rails the plot of Destined Flames is, I think it would be fun to see it be discussed in a VS show. Not to mention, Dorago has some shockingly high feats and fun animation potential.
Dorago is surprisingly tricky to create a matchup for given his origins. I feel like the most thematically fitting type of matchup for him would be an established adventurer who has their entire sense of self shattered after learning everything they knew was a lie, yet still choose to fight for what's right. Matching well with his scrimbo-like design would also be preferable, as a theme like that could certainly lead to a massive visual clash.
Do a blog on Desir Arman from A returner’s Magic should be special
